Custom Scented Candles
Creating your own custom scented candles is not a difficult process. However, it is something that you do have to experiment with to know which scents work well together and how much of the essential oils of each one you have to combine. Once you find the perfect combination you can create a unique name for the scent and add it to make really delightful candles in whatever mold your prefer pillar, tapered, jar candles or whatever kind you prefer to make.
When you add the scents to the candle you can shave off a few pieces from two or more scent blocks into the melted wax. If you are using essential oils for your scents you can simply pour in the drops of each one into the wax. You do have to make sure that you stir the scents thoroughly throughout the wax or you may not get the custom scent that you want to create. You may end up with a batch of candles that do not all have the same scent or have more of one scent than the other.
There are basically 31 essential oils that you can use for adding scents to candles. Each of these has certain therapeutic benefits when burning the candle diffuses the scent throughout a room. For example, the therapeutic benefit of basil is to stimulate the mind and cedarwood is believed to cut through mental blockages. Combining the two of these fragrances would make an interesting combination both in the scent and the therapeutic effect that your candles could have.
Both cinnamon and clary sage help us to clear the mind and connect with our inner spirit. Both of these oils have wonderful fragrances and a combination of the two could help to bring out the best properties of each one. You do have to experiment and not just rely on the therapeutic effects to influence your decision about creating custom scents. Just as the combination of some colors does not create a pleasing effect, the same thing can also happen with scents.
